Reduction of swim classes upsets seniors I

In a holiday surprise, the North Brunswick Recreation Department announced to the Senior Swim program that the group would not meet again until March 1 instead of the regular schedule of three times a week.

The announcement was not made in person by a representative of the department, but in a curt, written notice handed out at the end of the session on Dec. 21. Of course, most of the group was absent, preparing for the holidays. There was no reason given for the cancellation, and calls to the department provided no information.

Many seniors who suffer from arthritis and related difficulties depend on regular therapy from this program. It seems that this was the only recreation program cut made, and we seniors are wondering why we were targeted for this harmful suspension.
