Mr. Hofling, 75, of the Cream Ridge section of Upper Freehold, died March 24, 2010, at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Mr. Hofling retired as an operating engineer from IUOE, Local 825 in Little Falls and farmed at Harvest Hill Farm in Cream Ridge. He was predeceased by his parents, August and Lena Hofling, and a sister, Mary Ann Schumacher; surviving are his wife of 44 years, Shirley R. Hofling; a son, Dr. August Alexander Hofling of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Dale Rose Davis and her husband John of Midlothian, Va., and Heidi C. Hofling and her fiancé Bryant Kollar of Phoenixville, Pa.; two granddaughters; a cousin and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown, followed by interment in Emleys Hill Cemetery, Cream Ridge. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hearts Equine Rescue, P.O.
