The Allentown/Upper Freehold Lady Hawks U11 Amateur Athletic Union basketball team took first place in the 2010 Renegades Spring Rally Invitational Tournament on April 11. The U11 Amateur Athletic Union basketball team took first place in the April 10-11 tourney in Furlong, opponents 136-69, according to head coach Michael Narozniak.

“When you factor in that we are only in our second year of existence for Amateur Athletic Union and that we are from a small town USA village like ours here in Allentown, this is a big deal and accomplishment,” Narozniak said.

A tenacious 3-2 defense, a crisp transition game, three-point shooting, and dominating post play proved too much for the Lady Hawks’ opponents to handle, Narozniak said.

In the opening round of tournament play on April 10, the Lady Hawks dismantled the York Thunder White and Renegades teams with scores of 39-11 and 37-15, respectively, Narozniak said.

After going on a “wild feeding frenzy” in the Sunday opening game against the Staten Island Rebels (31-21), the AUF Lady Hawks were pitted against the mighty York Thunder Black in their

first-ever match-up for the tournament finale, Narozniak said.

“In the end, the 2010 Lady Hawksters did not disappoint their traveling fan base, leading the ballgame from the opening tap and never relinquishing its lead in besting this York, Pa., squad by a score of 29-22,” Narozniak said.

Team players Brianna C., Alexa C., Lachelle C., Monica H., Molly J., Hope N., Rayanna P., Erin R., Noel T., Kim W. and Samantha W. are coached by Narozniak, Craig Heil and Mark Rotondo.
