Mary O. (O’Brien) Sauickie

Mrs. Sauickie, 87, of Union Beach, died Dec. 16, 2010, at Bayshore Health Care, Holmdel. She worked as an operator with Bell Telephone, Keyport, then as a licensed practical nurse with Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, and then as a switchboard operator with the hospital, retiring at the age of 63. Mrs. Sauickie was past secretary and president of the AARP chapter, past president of the St. Joseph Seniors, and a volunteer with Holy Family Catholic Church, Union Beach. She was predeceased by her husband, Alexander Sauickie; two sisters, Anna McDonell and Florence Petty; five brothers, Owen, James, Patrick, John and Bernard O’Brien; and a great-grandchild, Chloe. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Mary Ann Olah of Somerset, Margaret and Charles Klinsky of West Keansburg, Alexander and Patricia Sauickie Jr. of Jackson, Thomas and Debra Sauickie of Hazlet, and Philip and Roseanne Sauickie of Tinton Falls; a sister, Frances Carr of Piscataway; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Family Church, Union Beach. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.
