Community forum on April 25 to address teen behavior, substance abuse, mental health

MILLSTONE — When children display changes in their mood or behavior parents may wonder if they’re seeing typical teenage growth or something else.

A community forum on April 25 will help parents better understand teen behavior, substance abuse and mental health issues. “Crossing the Line” will take place at 7 p.m. in the municipal court building at 215 Millstone Road.

Sponsored by the Millstone Township Municipal Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse, the forum will include a panel of professionals and parents providing information and resource materials. The forum is open to all, and the alliance encourages parents, teachers, counselors, school officials, coaches, youth leaders, PTO/PTA members, law enforcement and emergency responders to attend.

Shrabanee Shah, one of the forum organizers, said mental illness and substance abuse have been big topics in the media lately.

“Education, understanding, and resource is the key to prevention,” Shah said. “This forum will address many of these issues.”

Space is limited. For more information and to RSVP contact Shrabanee Shah at 609-259-7139 or Helen Varvi at 732-580-0717 or [email protected].
