Long Branch: Mandatory evacuations in some areas

Long Branch has designated the area from Ocean Boulevard to the beach, from the Deal border to North Long Branch, as a mandatory evacuation zone, according to the city’s website.
Residents north of Atlantic Avenue are also in a mandatory evacuation zone and being asked to leave immediately.
All residents of Washington
Tower and Ocean Point Towers in Long Branch are being asked to remain in their homes.
 Long Branch will have officers patrolling the areas being evacuated and all residents being evacuated are being asked to find a safe location for the duration of the storm.
The Long Branch Middle School on Indiana Avenue is currently being used as a shelter and residents can contact the Office of Emergency Management if they cannot safely get to the school at 732-571-6575, 732-222-5804 or 732-222-5807.
Depending on the severity of the storm’s impact on the electrical system, customers are encouraged to stay safe by preparing for the possibility of power outages lasting up to seven to 10 days by taking action before the storm occurs.
