Lions Pancake Breakfast Feb. 2 will aid Sandy disaster relief

MIDDLETOWN — The public is invited to the Middletown Lions Club’s seventh annual Pancake Breakfast at Applebee’s in Middletown on Feb. 2 from 8 to 10 a.m.

Funds generated from the popular event will be dedicated to the Middletown Disaster Relief Fund, a nonprofit started by former mayor and current Township Committeeman Anthony Fiore to assist Middletown residents impacted by the Oct. 29 superstorm.

The cost is $10 for a complete breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, orange juice and coffee, which will be served by Lion volunteers. Advance ticket sales are available by contacting Lion John Giordano, event chairman, at 732-996-7495. Applebee’s is located in the Middletown Shopping Center at the corner of Route 35 North and New Monmouth Road.

According to the township website, www.middletownnj.org, more than 1,200 homes were affected by Sandy and hundreds will need to be rebuilt. Information on the Middletown Disaster Relief Fund is available by viewing the websites www.middletownnj.org and www.middletownrelief.com, or by calling the mayor’s office at 732-615-2024.

The Middletown Lions Club meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at locations in Middletown and Hazlet. For more information, visit the website www.mlions.org or email Lori Anne Oliwa at [email protected].
