Garden Club of Met. slates meeting for Feb. 4

The Garden Club of Metuchen will meet on Feb. 4. Kay McCormack, past Garden Club of New Jersey District 6 director, and Elsie Hickey, horticulturist and 45-year member of the Garden Club of Metuchen (GMC), will present two short programs at the meeting, titled “History of local garden clubs: GMC, Terra Nova Garden Club and Edison Garden Club,” and “What is required to become a flower show judge.”

The presentation begins at 7 p.m. and will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, located at the corner of Middlesex (Route 27) and Oak avenues.

There is no charge for this program, and light refreshments will be served after the presentation. All interested members of the greater Metuchen-area community are welcome to attend. For more information, contact [email protected].

The Garden Club of Metuchen is composed of members from Metuchen, Edison and South Plainfield. Its objectives are to stimulate interest, knowledge and love of gardening among amateurs; to aid in the protection of native trees, plants and birds; to encourage ecology and civic plantings, youth interest in gardening and the environment; and to cooperate in the program of the Garden Club of New Jersey.
