Wall Stadium open for practice session

Competitors planning to participate in the 2013 professional auto racing championship season at Wall Stadium Speedway will have one last chance at preseason practice on Saturday, April 20. For competitors, pit area gates will open at 9 a.m. for race car inspection and tire purchasing before the five-hour practice session begins at 11 a.m. Fans will be welcome into the grandstands free of charge.

With the speedway’s website reporting that all pit area parking spots have been spoken for, enthusiasm is high for large fields of cars and exciting competition. With many of the 2013 competitors expected to be firsttimers, a mandatory session for rookies is set for April 20 at 10 a.m.

While grandstand seating is free of charge, the practice session is a paid affair for competitors. Race teams are also reminded that tires will be available at the track during the practice session, and competitor licenses and pit area parking spots will be offered in the speedway office.

Once testing is complete, all attention will turn toward April 27 and the official 2013 season opener. That season-opening program will feature the Wall Modified, Sportsman, Limited Late Model, Legend Cars, Factory Stock and 4-Cylinder divisions. An “On Track Party,” where fans will be welcome to enter the track to check out all of the racecars up-close, will be a part of the season-opening festivities.

Weekly Saturday evening stock car racing events will then run until the end of September, with the exception of June 22, when the annual “Formula Drift Championship” will be presented.

The fifth-mile inner oval at Wall Stadium will also be busy this season, as the first event of the season for the “Small Car Series” is set for May 19. The second of two Sunday Series practice sessions is set for April 21.

Wall Stadium Speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B.
