Join New York City tour guide Marty Schneit on a virtual tour of the Lower East Side of Manhattan at 1 p.m. May 29 at River Ridge, 30 S. Adelaide Ave., Highland Park.
Schneit will offer a brief timeline and history of the varied immigrant populations — Irish, Italian, German and Jewish — that made their home on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Old food establishments, such as Economy Candy, and stories of former Lower East Side residents George Burns, Eddie Cantor and Irving Berlin will be part of the presentation.
The lectures are open to all. Light refreshments will be served. The cost is $8 for JCC members, and $10 for nonmembers.
