The Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League’s (ABCCL) 14th annual Capt. Ryan K. Iannelli All-Star Game will be held on July 21 at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood.

This year’s All-Star Game will feature 50 athletes drawn from the league’s eight teams, all of which are based in New Jersey. There will be a pre-game showcase for representatives from MLB starting at 4 p.m., and the game begins at 6 p.m.

Over the past 14 years, players have joined the ABCCL from such baseball programs as Louisiana State University, University of Florida, University of Virginia, Ohio State University, College of William and Mary, Oral Roberts University, West Virginia University, Sam Houston State University, University of Maryland, University of Connecticut, Rice University, St. John’s University, Rider University, Princeton University, Monmouth University, Seton Hall University and Rutgers University. In addition, the league has had more than 87 players sign contracts and go on to play professional baseball.

The game honors the late Capt. Ryan K. Iannelli, a 2005 ABCCL all-star with the Ocean Giants. A member of the United States Marine Corps, Iannelli was killed in action in Afghanistan piloting a helicopter in 2011. To honor Iannelli, the league decided to rename its annual all-star game after him. The MVP awards are also in his name.
