Our congressman, Chris Smith, is chair of the Congressional pro-life caucus, leading the anti-abortion crusade. Congressman Smith writes egregious legislation with regard to women’s health.
In the last two years, Congressman Smith voted for fetal personhood four times and wrote the legislation (HR-1797, the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act).
In 2011, Congressman Smith wrote HR- 3 to redefine rape to forcible rape. Why? To block rape and incest victims impregnated from their attack from ending their pregnancy. Congressman Smith is against a women’s right to choose even in cases of rape and incest, and to save the life of the mother.
Congressman Smith voted to outlaw the birth control pill (Amendment 142). Congressman Smith wrote HR-7 blocking flexible spending money and private insurance from covering women’s reproductive care.
