ABstract EXpressions Gallery Presents “Twice Abstracted”
ABstract EXpressions Contemporary Art Gallery announces “Twice Abstracted,” its fall exhibit of paintings by Robert Bloomberg of Jackson, NJ, and photographs by Adel Gorgy of Baldwin Harbor, NY.
Robert Bloomberg’s densely painted abstracts derive from his early work in industrial design, his love of antique prints, and his full-circle return to abstraction. The artist states “I always had the need to paint, and it remains my first love.”
Adel Gorgy revisits and reinterprets the work of renowned artists such as Pollock, de Kooning, and others. To call his works photographs does not accurately describe them. They are, in fact, the result of a unique and complex process developed by Gorgy in which various photographic elements are manipulated and composed into a wholly new abstract work.
“I am pleased and excited to have the works of Bob and Adel in the Gallery,” states Gallery Director James Kent. “Their works provide an exciting journey in pure abstraction. The end results speak together in an extraordinary way. This is a show that will give your eyes a buzz!”
Twice Abstracted is on view at the Gallery from September 5 through November 28, 2014. Three “Meet the Artists” receptions will be held. The receptions will be on Saturday September 13, Saturday October 11, and Saturday November 8. Each reception is from 2:00 until 4:00 PM. The public is cordially invited.
The receptions are held in conjunction with Mount Holly’s Second Saturday Arts Crawl. Gallery receptions, book signings, live music, craft beer and wine tastings, refreshments and special discounts take place throughout Mount Holly on the second Saturday of each month. It’s a great time to visit local galleries, museums, historic sites, shops and restaurants.
September 13 is also the Endless Summer Block Party. Downtown Mount Holly continues summer beyond Labor Day with food, music, art and other activities. The Grand Opening celebration of the new Valenzano Winery Outlet at Gallery Seventy Two is planned. Mugshot Diner will be offering smoked treats and barbecue. There will be shore boardwalk games, Mount Holly style, and live music and a DJ playing summer favorites. Art exhibits will be on view at all the local galleries.
Also on display in ABstract EXpressions Gallery are paintings by selected Gallery artists; ceramics by Sara Hawken, Veronica Kairos, Nancy Reese, Helge Speth, Rose Marie Strippoli, and Eric Wolff; sculptures by Dan Becker, Frank Krimmel, Greg Melartin, Donna Payton, Bruce Riley and Michael Taylor; glass by Charles Gigus; and furniture by William Robbins.
ABstract EXpressions Contemporary Art Gallery is located at 70 High Street in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
