Steven Avis pitched a gem for the Dr. Spielman Dentistry Mets in the championship game of the Cranbury-Plainsboro Little League Majors Division last Saturday, edging out the Teddy’s Restaurant Yankees, 6-1.
Avis was one out shy of a complete game over five-plus innings, as Josh Bissette came in to close it out. A true pitchers duel was on stage for most of the game as Dan Vessey was also sharp for the Yankees.
The Mets brought home the title on a true team effort, just as they did all year, behind Ethan Guy, Will Piepszak, Ryan Schilling, Jillian Wexler, Stephen Avis, Troy Curran, Shane Johnson, Connor McDowell, Josh Bissette, Kyle Keegan, Jack Liggio and John Pacifico.
