Troy Colvella, 24, of Hightstown, was charged with robbery, theft by deception and receiving stolen property after he tried to conduct a fraudulent return of dress jackets and pants shortly after 1 p.m. June 20, according to police Lt. Joseph Amodio.
A store loss prevention officer stopped him and when they went outside, he became “combative,” Lt. Amodio said. She was holding his identification documents in her pocket and when he reached into her pocket to retrieve them, a scuffle ensued.
Quaker Bridge Mall security officers were called to assist, Lt. Amodio said. One of the security guards suffered an injury to his mouth, elbow and knee, and the loss prevention officer was punched and kicked by Mr. Colvella, who was eventually subdued.
Mr. Colvella was released from the Mercer County Corrections Center after posting $50,000 bail.
