Administrators’ contracts approved

HOWELL —The Howell K-8 School District Board of Education has approved employment contracts for three administrators.

At its meeting on June 17 at Howell Middle School North, the board approved contracts with the assistant superintendent for pupil services, the assistant superintendent for curriculum and personnel and the business administrator/board secretary.

The board approved a contract with Patricia Callander, the assistant superintendent for pupil services. Callander will be paid $167,819 for the 2015-16 school year.

The board approved a contract with Bruce Preston, the assistant superintendent for curriculum and personnel. Preston will be paid $158,720 for the 2015-16 school year.

The board approved a contract with Ronald Sanasac, the district’s business administrator and board secretary. Sanasac will be paid $163,343 for the 2015-16 school year.

All three contracts are pending approval from the Executive County Superintendent of Schools.

The contracts for Callander, Preston and Sanasac were approved in a vote of 6-0 with two abstentions.

Voting to approve the contracts were board President Timothy O’Brien and board members Suzanne Brennan, Jeanne De- Pompo, Albert Miller, Denise Lowe and Mary Cerretani.

Board members Mark Bonjavanni and Jim Moretti Jr. abstained on the vote.

Board Vice President Chuck Welsh was absent from the meeting.

In other business, the board approved the purchase of playground equipment and accepted donations to three schools.

Memorial Elementary School (formerly Howell Memorial Middle School) will receive playground equipment from Ben Shaffer and Associates, Lake Hopatcong, for playground equipment in the amount of $15,147. The building will become an elementary school in September under a district reconfiguration plan that was recently adopted by the board.

The Adelphia School PTA has donated $7,622 to the school for books for reading classes and Leader in Me book sets and supplies.

The Ardena School PTA has donated $32,637 for new playground equipment purchased from Game Time and installed by Whirl Construction. The playground will be used for students in grades three to five.

The Greenville School PTO has donated two stone park benches to the school in the amount of $2,323.
