HILLSBOROUGH: Township planner worked in business, government

By Gene Robbins, Managing Editor
Hillsborough’s new township planning director, whose resume features municipal and private enterprise experience, started work Monday.
David K. Maski replaces Bruce Rydel, who was hired in November 2013 following the death of Robert Ringelheim in June 2013. Mr. Ringelheim was township planner for 10 years.
Mr. Maski worked as director of planning services for VanCleef Engineering Associates in Lebanon since 2010, where he led all municipal planning assignments. Previous to that, he was senior project manager for CMX, a national consulting firm based in Manalapan, from 2000 to 2010. He also has governmental experience in the N.J. Office of State Planning from 1987 to 2000 and as director of planning and redevelopment for the City of Passaic from 1987 to 2000.
Mr. Maski was hired June 9 by the Township Committee at an annual salary of $96,500.
Mr. Rydel’s last day employed by the township was April 13. He was slated to receive a $98,838 salary in 2015.
