HOPEWELL VALLEY: Children’s Theatre to perform ‘Shrek, Jr.’ and ‘Mary Poppins’

Come on “Ogre“ and join Hopewell Valley Children’s Theatre as it presents “Shrek, Jr!”
An evening performance will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, July 31, and a matinee will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1.
“Big, Bright Beautiful World,“ “I Know It’s Today“ and “Let your Freak Flag Fly“ are a few of the tunes from this Broadway version based on the popular animated film. HVCT’s production of “Shrek, Jr.” brings together area students from a variety of towns and elementary schools.
“Mary Poppins” will be performed at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 30, and on Saturday, Aug. 1. This musical features favorites including, “A Spoonful of Sugar,“ “Jolly Holliday“ and “Go Fly a Kite.“
“Mary Poppins” brings students together from area middle and high schools.
All performances will be at the Performing Arts Center at Hopewell Valley Central High School, 259 Pennington-Titusville Road, Pennington. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students, senior citizens and teachers. Tickets are on sale through HVCT.ORG or general admission seating will be available at the theater box office one hour prior to the performances. The HVCT creative staff behind the summer productions includes producer/director Cathy Sing, music director Bernadette Furlong, vocal/costume director Vicki Krampf, choreographer Jessica Furlong, and acting director/extended day program, Ryan Smith.
HVCT is grateful for the support of the HVRSD school district, parents and volunteers, who have supported its efforts to enrich the community and given it a home since 1998.
Celebrating its 18th summer season, Hopewell Valley Children’s Theatre is a non-profit arts education program, endorsed by the New Jersey Council of the Arts.. HVCT’s mission is to enrich and enhance the self-esteem and talents of local students through performing arts experiences. Students are involved in every facet of the production, onstage and off. 
