Alfred Fiume Alfred Fiume MONROE — A man who was last seen on July 26 was found dead in Monroe Township on July 29.

Alfred “Fred” Fiume, 53, of Rutherford, did not show up for work in Jamesburg on July 28.

At around 12:16 p.m. July 29, the Monroe Township Police Department received a call about a suspicious vehicle with an unresponsive person in it behind a residence off of Federal Road, according to a statement issued by the department.

Fiume was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:44 p.m.

“We were advised Mr. Fiume had passed,” Capt. Patrick Feliciano of the Rutherford Police Department confirmed on July 30. “He was apparently discovered at a home under construction in that township [Monroe].”

Fiume had been last seen around 9:30 p.m. July 26, and his cellphone “pinged” on Gravel Hill Road in Monroe at 7:57 a.m. July 28, according to a Nixle alert issued by the New Jersey State Police.

Fiume was employed by Correctional Dental Associates, and worked in the New Jersey State Home for Boys in Jamesburg. He was also an associate at Gentle Dental in Lyndhurst.

He entered the United States Army in 1988 and served in Iraq Operation Freedom, achieving the rank of liutenant colonel, according to his obituary.

Monroe police said it does not appear foul play was involved. The body was brought to the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
