HILLSBOROUGH: Church seeking approval for South Branch Road plan

A church’s plan to locate its sanctuary and pastor’s residence will come before next Wednesday’s Board of Adjustment meeting.
Christian Community Church has a contract to buy the farm property at 121 South Branch Road for its sanctuary and pastor’s house. It seeks waivers from the impervious coverage and height ordinances for the rural zone.
The church was previously located on Route 206. It plans to convert the two-story barn into its house of worship, and use other buildings on the property for other purposes.
The church would widen the driveway, add parking and make adaptations for accessibility. The buildings’ exteriors would not change substantially. In the application, it didn’t know if it needed a height variance for a 45-foot tall silo.
Also on the board’s future radar: Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey wants permission for waivers to rebuild a larger multi-use building, which had burned, on its Camp DeWitt site at 605 Montgomery Road. The application is scheduled for the Oct. 7 Board of Adjustment meeting.
