LETTER TO THE EDITOR: We’ll do it and we’ll do it for less

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this letter mentioned that Township Committee members receive full medical benefits. According to township officials, that is incorrect. We regret the error.

Several months ago, back in March, my running mates and I announced our intent to run in the Republican primary for town council. At the time, Paul Hummel, Darren Feist, and I, Steven Uccio, declared we would work without the $11,589.52 per year salary if we were elected. That article is no longer available on the Windsor-Hights Herald website so I wanted to remind everyone that the offer still stands.
At this time we like to challenge our opponents to also agree to work without salary. After all, East Windsor Council members get paid over $11,000 per year.
Also, if there is ever to be an increase in Town Council salaries we believe that should be approved by a ballot question. We don’t believe it’s appropriate for Town Council members to vote on their own salary. We believe the voters should be empowered to decide that.
