Trespasser fatally struck by train in Long Branch

LONG BRANCH—An adult male was struck and fatally injured by a NJ Transit North Jersey Coastline train Thursday in Long Branch.

Nancy Snyder, senior director of public information and corporate communications for NJ Transit, confirmed the death occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 at the Brighton Avenue grade crossing just west of the Long Branch Train Station by a train traveling south toward Bay Head.

Snyder said service was immediately suspended and there were no injuries to the 42 passengers and crewmembers on board the train.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
