HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP: Firefighters extinguish Van Dyke Road garage fire

The Hopewell Township Police Department along with the Hopewell Fire Department responded to a VanDyke Road address at 7:17 p.m. Sunday for a reported structure fire.
First arriving fire units observed a detached garage on fire, police said. The fire had also spread to two enclosed trailers adjacent to the garage. The fire was quickly extinguished by first arriving fire units.
Responding agencies included the Hopewell Fire Department, Pennington Fire Company, Union Fire Company, Lawrenceville Fire Department, Lawrence Road Fire Company, Pennington Road Fire Company, West Trenton Fire Company, Princeton Fire Department and Montgomery Fire Company No. 2.
This fire remains under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police Department, Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, and the Mercer County Fire Marshal’s Office. However, the fire appears to be accidental in nature, police reported.
There were no injuries reported. The garage, two trailers, and all the contents were damaged. The main residence also sustained damage to the exterior siding from radiant heat.
