MONTGOMERY — The Montgomery Business Association, the Economic Development Commission and the owners of the Princeton Airport were presented with a resolution honoring them for their efforts to create Montgomery FunFest by Township Committee last week.
Montgomery FunFest, held last month at the Princeton Airport on Route 206, drew about 6,000 visitors. The goal was to introduce visitors to Montgomery businesses and assorted nonprofit groups in a family-friendly setting.
Businesses set up booths to introduce themselves to potential clients and customers. Some businesses have storefronts, while others are service-oriented and do not have storefronts. Montgomery FunFest allowed businesses to showcase themselves.
In the resolution, Township Committee congratulated and commended the Montgomery Business Association and the Economic Development Commission “on a job well done,” and also expressed its appreciation to the Nierenberg family, which owns the airport.
“It is the goal of the Montgomery Business Association and the Economic Development Commission to support local businesses and strengthen the community spirit of Montgomery Township,” according to the resolution.
“The Montgomery Business Association and the Economic Development Commission worked tirelessly for months to organize this very successful event, which will hopefully become an annual tradition in Montgomery,” the resolution said.
Jean Robinson, who co-chaired Montgomery FunFest with Todd Royer of the Economic Development Commission, said after the Township Committee meeting that the group had met to “debrief” and consider what could be improved going forward.
A date has not yet been set for Montgomery FunFest 2016, but feedback from the community has indicated that the event would be well received, said Ms. Robinson, who is a member of the Montgomery Business Association. People are asking whether it will be held next year, she added.
Mr. Royer, who is the Economic Development Commission chairman, said he was “really pleased with the enthusiasm of the commission members and advisers” and their willingness to participate in creative conversations between Montgomery Township and Montgomery business owners.
One of the results of those conversations was Montgomery FunFest and the Montgomery Business Directory, Mr. Royer said. The business directory lists all of the businesses in the township and the business owners.
