‘Pink’ Shabbat service to focus on breast cancer

Temple B’nai Shalom will host a “pink” Shabbat service 8 p.m. on Oct. 23 in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

One in 40 Jews of Ashkenazi descent carries a BRCA (breast cancer) gene mutation, making Jewish families at 10 times greater risk than the general population.

The featured speaker will be Melissa Rosen, director of National Outreach of Shasheret, the Jewish community response to breast cancer.
