HILLSBOROUGH: Jr. Raider varsity football stays perfect 

The Jr. Raiders varsity (7th and 8th grades) defeated the Jr. Red Devils from Ridge, 28-8, to move to 4-0.
The Jr. Raiders opened up the scoring with a touchdown run by Tommy Ramsey behind blocks from Michael Clerico, Tommy Haber and Alex Marsh. On their next drive, the Raiders marched down the field behind blocks from Ric Sarkar and Jon Seaton. The drive culminated with a touchdown run by Nate Estime.
The Jr. Raiders added to a 12-0 halftime lead on the first possession of the second half. The offensive line dominated during a 49-yard touchdown drive. T.J. Schultz and Kevin Rolon led the way on Matt Michnard’s touchdown run. Tommy Ramsey completed the PAT kick with an excellent hold by Joey The Jr. Raider defense held the Jr. Red Devils scoreless until the last minute and a half of the game. The defensive line play of Kevin Klein, T.J. Schultz, George Ma, and A.J. Vinchur contained the Ridge ground game. Matt Michinard added an interception.
The ground game continued in the 4th quarter by driving 75 yards on 13 plays. The drive was capped by a touchdown run by Luke Popadiuk behind a block by Jon Seaton. Tommy Ramsey added the PAT kick.
The Jr. Raiders travel to play Somerville at Torpey Field on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
JV (5th/6th grades) û
The Jr. Raiders Skyland JV team slugged its way to a 6-6 tie with the Ridge Jr. Devils team at Ridge High School on Saturday evening.
Neither team was able to mount much of an offense. The Raiders jumped ahead in the 2nd quarter on a 50-yard scamper by mercurial running back Thomas Amankwaa.
Defensively the Raiders were led again by the man in the middle, Sal Volpe. The middlebacker saved ’Boro with at least three touchdown-saving tackles.
This clash of Jr. Skyland titans didn’t disappoint and the two teams are likely destined to meet again in the playoffs.
The Jr. Raiders visit Somerville/Branchburg on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Torpey Field in Somerville. 
Patriot Varsity Division û
(7th and 8th grades) û
Patriot Varsity White beat Bridgewater White, 24-6, under the lights on Monday.
Hillsborough dominated with its ground game and line blocking. Troy Dallas Kennedy scored on the first offensive play from 30 yards. Kennedy had just intercepted a pass to set the offense.
In the second half, Kennedy scored on a 5-yard run. After a nice drive, Drew Ryan hit Aidan Lugo on a 20-yard TD pass. Defensively, Varsity White was led by Spencer Liccardi, who had a pick and multiple tackles. Anthony Longhitano also had multiple stops, along with Luke Popadiuk, Jim Kelly, Kennedy, and Ryan Diaz. Tim Franks added 3 PATs and the O-line was anchored by Joey Schwarz, James SanFillippo and Ryan Nussbaum.
Patriot Varsity Red û
The game against Bridgewater Patriot Red was rescheduled for Wednesday night, Oct. 7, in Bridgewater.
Patriot Varsity Blue û
Hillsborough Patriot Varsity Blue bested Voorhees, 22-0, to improve to 3-1.
Quarterback Andrew Rygiel threw for one touchdown, a swing pass to Pedro Molina. Pedro added another touchdown on a sweep behind blocking by Justin King, Kyle Poeckh, Jacob Straz, Connor Graverson and Connor Schultz. The line opened holes for the backs all day.
Kyle Clark added a touchdown on a reverse behind a block by tight end Frankie Townsend. Daniel Bond provided two extra points and kicked the ball deep on kickoffs.
After an early miscue, Blue’s defense forced a punt and set the stage for the rest of the game. The line was led by plays from Hunter Jorgenson, Connor Graverson, Noah Movshin and Brendon Harding, who had a big stop late in the game. Zack Pryslak, Kye Lewis and Logan Teeple were tested by a balanced passing attack, but did not allow a score. 
