BUSINESS BRIEFS

The Jill Justin Dance Alliance (JJDA) is pleased to announce it has opened additional studio space at their Tano Mall location to accommodate its growing dance school. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Oct. 7. Representatives from the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce were joined by members of the Borough Council to celebrate the expansion of this business to our community.

JJDA first opened its doors at Tano Mall, Edison in 2007 to 40 students. By the end of the first season, it doubled its student body and had 80 students participate in the studio’s first recital. JJDA eventually relocated to a 3,300 square-foot space (the former Jack Cooper’s Deli) within Tano Mall. In the spring of 2015, JJDA acquired the former Hallmark Store, completely renovating the space to provide the same studio design style, including large glass viewing windows for parent viewing. The studio now has four dance rooms to accommodate the many boys and girls in the community interested in dance instruction.

The Jill Justin Dance Alliance (JJDA) offers recreational dance classes for children ages 2-1/2 and up, aiming to provide a fun, nurturing environment for children and teens of all skill levels.

JJDA is also home to a competitive Company, which has won several national championships. Dancers from JJDA have gone on to pursue professional dance careers with the Rockettes, New York Jets Flight Crew and national tours of musicals such as Elf and Bullets Over Broadway. Many students continue to pursue dance in college and several have been awarded generous scholarships based on their dance experience and training.
