Storm U-14 Girls
The Storm defeated Red Bank’s Rapid 4-0 with a dominating performance from all sides of the field. Grace O’Leary had 3 goals 2 off assists from Julia Gorajek and returned the favor, creating a rebound which Gorajek sent home. Shannan Hauslet assisted on the final goal capping off a win defined by the mid-fielder’s ball control and protection. Payton Rupp, Jessica Saldutti and Laila Aly stood out at mid supported strongly by backs Lili Iavarone, Meg Regan and Jessica Gratkowski. Keeper Mary Kate Harnett had the shutout.
Arsenal U10 girls
The East Windsor PAL U10 Arsenal defeated the Wall Rockets 1-0 in a defensive battle in MOSA Premier League play.
Rachael Charsky broke the scoreless tie in the second half with a blistering shot from 25 yards out. Once again, the Arsenal defense was unbreakable with Abigail Carter, Charlotte Garcia, Marcella Hirschman, and Anna Zappola holding off the Wall attack. Radha Ghate and Angelina Benitez combined on the shutout in goal for Arsenal.
The Arsenal came right back the next day and picked up a valuable point on the road with a 1-1 draw vs. rival Freehold Lightning. Angelina Benitez scored the only Arsenal goal with an assist from Allie Szelag. Elise Price, Megan Khazem and Tanya Aughenbaugh provided the offensive pressure throughout the game played under extremely windy conditions.
