HILLSBOROUGH: Author Day coming to library on Saturday 

Hillsborough Library Author Day will be held Sat., Nov. 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Hillsborough Library, 379 South Branch Road.
Meet local authors, buy books and get them signed. Writers of adult, young adult and children’s books will attend, including Walter Choroszewski, Linda J. Barth, Cheryl Filipak, Mary Ellen Springsteen, Chris Redding, K. Edwin Fritz, Lori Sweeney and Christina Paul.
 In November, view the art of Mike Williams and Karen Kaake. In December, the work of Mike Williams and Estelle Lieb.
 The Hillsborough and Manville libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, and will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26 and 27, for Thanksgiving. The two libraries will open at noon Thursday, Dec. 3.

– English conversation group: Practice speaking English in a friendly setting. Basic English skills required. Hosted by Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County on Mondays, Nov. 23 and 30, at 7 p.m.
– Music in the West Wing: The group Seasons will present a fusion of Celtic, folk, original and holiday music in the West Wing of the library. Light refreshments will be served. Tues., Dec. 1, at 7 p.m.
– Computer classes: An introduction to the Google email service Gmail will be held Wed., Dec. 2, at 2 p.m.
An introduction to Twitter, the phone short-messaging service, will be held Thurs., Dec. 3, at 7 p.m.
A limited number of library laptops are available for attendees’ use.
– Holiday decorating: Ideas will be presented with “before” and “after“ photos. This program is presented by certified interior decorators, compliments of Decorating Den Interiors. Wed., Dec. 2, at 7 p.m.
Youth programs (registration required):
– First Roots Music (newborn to 3) — Join Ms. Jenni, a Kindermusik educator and owner of First Roots Music Studio, for music that helps a child develop language, literacy, social and listening skills in a fun, family-friendly setting. Older siblings will not be allowed into this program. Mon., Nov. 23, at 10 a.m.
– Lego Buddies (grades 8-12) — Teen volunteers wanted to help during Lego Club programs. Must have social skills and experience with children. Volunteers will earn community service hours for attendance. Space is limited to four volunteers per session. Tues., Nov. 24, at 3:45 p.m.
— Lego Club (grades 1-5) — The library supplies the Legos and you supply the creativity. Thurs., Nov. 24, at 4 p.m.
– Toddler Time (2- and 3-year-olds) — Introduce books to your child with stories on food at 10 a.m. Tues., Nov. 24, and bears on Dec. 1.
– Rhyme Time (newborn to 24 months) — Twenty minutes of nursery rhyme fun. Tues., Nov. 24 and Dec. 1, at 10:30 a.m.
– Story Time (ages 3-6) — Enjoy stories and build language skills. No registration required. Tues., Nov. 24 and Dec. 1, at 1 p.m.
– Discovery Zone — Learn about woodland animals on Tues., Dec. 1, at 4 p.m. for grades K-2.
– Preschool Book Club (for parents and children ages 3-6) — Read tales about winter and do book-related activities. Wed., Dec. 2, at 10 a.m.
– Zumba for kids (grades 1-4) — A dance-fitness party where kids rock it out to music with their friends. Wear comfortable clothes and sneakers. A library release/waiver must be signed by parents. Thurs., Dec. 3, at 4 p.m.
– Baby Songs (newborn to 24 months) — Make music with your little one! Older siblings will not be allowed into this program. Fri., Dec. 4, at 10 a.m.
