PENNINGTON: Dash Away races boost mission work

The Pennington Presbyterian Church is supporting mission projects with the Dash Away 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Walk.
The race will support efforts to provide clean water in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico through Living Waters for the World, and combat homelessness through HomeFront and its youth project with Habitat for Humanity.
The race and walk will be over roads in Pennington Borough and Hopewell Township on Saturday, Dec. 5 — rain, shine or snow. The race starts at 9 a.m. on Delaware Avenue. There will be awards for the top overall male and female finishers, and the top three, male and female finishers, in each age group.
Registrants will receive a long sleeved T-shirt while supplies last. Cost to register is $30 through race day. See the course layout, and register online at www.dashaway5K.org or in person on race day at the church, starting at 7:45 a.m.
Since 2010, the church has installed two water purification systems in the Yucatan Peninsula through the Living Waters for the World. This year the church developed a new covenant with the town of Tahdziu for an installation in 2016.
Each small water purification system is meant to consistently meet the needs of 300 people with the water distributed in 5-gallon bottles.
Pennington Presbyterian supports HomeFront, in Ewing, a multi-faceted program that lessens the immediate pain of homelessness for women and their children, and helps families become self-sufficient. Each month, a PPC team shops for, cooks and delivers dinners for 60 people — that’s 720 meals per year.
