Mindfulness Meditation program set for Dec. 2

Monmouth Medical Center, in conjunction with the HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls, will be the host to “Mindfulness Meditation” beginning at 6 p.m. on Dec. 2 at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls, 2 Centre Plaza, off Hope Road, in Tinton Falls.

With an introduction by Todd. J. Cooperman, MD, FAAPMR, medical director at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls and section chief of the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Monmouth Medical Center, the program will cover how to cope with stress, pain and illness by using “moment-to-moment awareness.”

Antia Pfisterer, LCSW, of Little Silver Behavioral Health and program facilitator for the Cancer Support Community at Monmouth Medical Center, will discuss Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) techniques developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn which can help people better understand and work with all the stresses in their lives.
