Fred Davis, the national director of new chapters with the Antique Motorcycle Club of America, has announced that the Jersey Shore chapter has become the 63rd chapter in the national club.
The Antique Motorcycle Club of America was founded in 1954 by a group of antique bike fans in New England, according to a press release.In the decades since, the club has grown to become the largest organization of antique motorcycle enthusiasts in the world, with 11,000 members in the United States and more than a dozen other countries.
To be a member, all one has to have is an interest in antique motorcycles, no antique necessary. The Jersey Shore Chapter of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America is devoted to sharing information, techniques and history about motorcycles, according to the press release. With regular meetings and club events in and around Belmar, the chapter seeks to preserve and promote the historic restoration of motorcycles and motorcycling memorabilia.
A Tour de Shore road rally will take place on Sept. 27, 2016. The event will start at Harley Davidson, Long Branch. Motorcycles 35 years old and older will travel through Long Branch, Deal, Asbury Park, Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach, Avon, Belmar, Spring Lake and Manasquan.
Once the antique rally is underway, a poker run will follow. A concluding event in Howell will feature rock bands, food, the Miss Jersey Shore Pageant, an antique motorcycle show and more.
