HILLSBOROUGH: Two hired to succeed middle school retirees 

James Durham has retired as a teacher of mathematics at the Hillsborough Middle School, effective Oct. 1, 2015, after 14 years in the district.
Laura Schneider was hired Monday to replace Mr. Durham for the rest of the school year. She will be paid a pro-rated salary of $55,545, the first step on the guide.
Katherine Stein was hired as a teacher of health and physical education at the middle school, effective Jan. 4, through June 30. She’ll replace the retired David Drake and will also be paid a pro-rated $55,545.
Danielle Sarnowski, a parttime teacher of art at the middle school, will resign effective Feb. 11, or sooner if a replacement is found. She has worked in the district since September 2014.
Michelle Zhao, teacher of Chinese in multiple district schools, has resigned effective Feb. 9, or sooner if a replacement is found. She has worked here since September 2013.
The school board on Dec.7 approved the retirement of Huyen Diettrich, custodian at the Auten Road Intermediate School since April 2013, effective Jan. 1.
The board also approved the hiring of Danielle Deretchin as a long-term substitute athletic trainer at the high school, from Dec. 8 to March 11, 2016. She replaces Amanda Miller, who is on a leave of absence. Ms. Deretchin’s salary will be based on the first-year teacher salary of $55,545. 
