Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) will host an informational open house about its proposed $6.5 million substation expansion project in Old Bridge from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Knights of Columbus Saint Thomas the Apostle Council No. 4815, 61 Pine St., Old Bridge.
Members of the public are invited to attend to learn more about the project, which will add two new 230 kilovolt (kV) circuit breakers, reconfigure 700 feet of existing lines and add two new 115 kV lines from the substation to the local transmission system.
It is expected that all work will be done within the substation property and on existing right-of-way, according to a press release from JCP&L.
Construction is scheduled to begin later this year, and the project should be completed and in service by June 2015.
Pamela Jasones of Somerset has joined The Provident Bank as vice president and area manager of the North Brunswick, Milltown and Highland branches.
In this position, Jasones is responsible for overseeing and supervising business development, community relations and the daily operations of the three branches.
Prior to joining Provident, she was vice president and business development officer for TD Bank, Magyar Bank and United Trust Bank.
Jasones is a graduate of the American Institute of Banking. She is also a member of the Somerset County Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Community Services of Somerset County.
The Unitarian Society and Montessori School, 176 Tices Lane, East Brunswick, will offer a Kids Fun Fest noon-4 p.m. Sept. 6.
The event will feature live children’s music and free games, crafts and prizes for families and children of all ages.
