The Keyport Indians’ football and cheerleading teams will sponsor a Cornhole Tournament Fundraiser at 5 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Ramos Sports Center, 17 Blair Road, Matawan.
Check-in begins 4 p.m.
Cornhole is a game similar to horseshoes, except wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags are used instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. If one can aim and toss a corn bag 30 feet, he or she can master the game of cornhole, which is said to have originated in Germany in the 14th century, according to a press release.
The cost is $80 per two-member team. The event will include a four-hour open bar, a first-place team prize of $350 and a second place team prize of $150. Preregistration is suggested by emailing [email protected] or calling Susan at 732-995-5497. Nonplayers can participate at $30 per person, which includes the open bar option.
