MANALAPAN — A resident of Monroe Township was charged with driving while intoxicated and other violations following her alleged involvement in an incident on Smithburg Road.
Manalapan police said that at 8:25 p.m. Sept. 4, a 36-year-old female motorist reported that her vehicle was struck by a passing motorist on Smithburg Road in the area of Sweetmans Lane. The suspect vehicle did not stop and began to drive away from the scene.
Police said an investigation led to the location of the suspect vehicle and its operator, Lisa A. Vitale, 50, of Monroe Township.
Vitale was arrested, transported to police headquarters and charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, careless driving, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and improper passing.
Vitale’s vehicle was impounded. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Patrolman Matthew Meyler was the arresting officer.
