COLTS NECK – Residents and visitors will have a chance to view the work of local artists at the 16th annual Friends of the Colts Neck Library Art Show and Sale.

The show and sale will be held on Oct. 17, 18, 24 and 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Colts Neck Library, 1 Winthrop Drive.

According to Friends Co-President Michele Battista, there will be a meet and greet with the artists at the library on Oct. 16 from 7-9 p.m.

Patrons will be charged $10 for a preview party and may partake in a wine sampling presented by 4JG’s Orchards and Vineyards, Colts Neck.

Battista said the event was previously held in December, however, the Friends decided to move it to October. She said the last two years of winter weather was enough to change the date.

“The weather is always a determining factor,” Battista said. “Holidays are tough, there are too many activities, and people have commitments to family and friends.”

Battista said the 24 artists who participated in the show last year were painters, sculptors and photographers.

There is a price tag on each piece of art, as set by the artist. Anyone interested in purchasing art is asked to come back at the end of the show in order to prevent open wall space during the show. Prices can range from $10 for a ceramic piece to upwards of $1,000 for a large painting.

The Friends receive 20 percent of each sale which is used to hold future events and to maintain the library.
