Bonds will pay for road projects

MILLSTONE — The Township Committee has adopted two ordinances providing for road improvements.

Millstone Township Mayor Bob Kinsey said the first ordinance appropriates $900,000 for the 2015 road improvement program and provides for the issuance of $741,000 in bonds or notes of the township to finance the majority of the work.

The improvements will include work on Charleston Spring Road, Millstone Road from Pine Hill Road to Baird Road, and Baird Road (west of Millstone Road.) Other roads slated for improvements are Windsor Road from Perrineville Road to Feldsher Road.

The bond will also fund improvements that will include milling, paving, curbing, site preparations and all other work and materials necessary.

A Department of Transportation Grant in the amount of $120,000 will be used for the improvements on Charleston Spring Road, Kinsey said.

A second ordinance appropriates $55,000 for the acquisition of public works vehicles and equipment and provides for the issuance of $52,250 in bonds or notes to cover the costs. The acquisition will include a snow removal vehicle, according to municipal officials.
