Library Gala set

Ann Hood, best-selling author of "An Italian Wife," will attend an Italian-themed dinner Saturday, Sept. 20, after hours at the South Brunswick Public Library, 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction.
Hors d’oeuvres begin 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m.

Ms. Hood is the author of 15 books, as well as numerous essays and short stories. Her writing has won her a Best American Spiritual Writing Award, the Paul Bowles Prize for Short Fiction and two Pushcart Prizes.
Her bestsellers include "The Knitting Circle" and "Obituary Writer." The memoir "Comfort: A Journey Through Grief " was named one of the top 10 nonfiction books of 2008 by Entertainment Weekly and was a New York Times Editor’s Choice.
She is a faculty member at The New School in New York City and lives in Providence, R.I.
