Absenteeism slows work of two Howell boards

Absenteeism slows work
of two Howell boards

Absenteeism issues for two Howell committees has prompted action by Councilman Juan Malave.

Malave told his fellow members of the Township Council on July 6 that he had been contacted by members of the recreation advisory committee and the citizens advisory committee regarding a problem both bodies have been experiencing.

According to information that was given to Malave, for months, both committees have been having a problem meeting and establishing a legal quorum for their meetings due to chronic absenteeism among members of both panels.

Malave asked Township Manager Bruce Davis to send letters to the members of both committees asking them to make room for another person to serve on their committee if personal constraints are making it impossible for them to attend meetings.

"I’m not asking anyone to resign, just to make room for someone who can serve if they can’t," Malave said.
