The Jackson Chamber of Commerce has chosen the recipients of the 2004 Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award as well as the 2004 Business of the Year Award. Presentation of the awards will be made Sept. 22 at a banquet honoring of CentraState Healthcare as "Business of the Year," Jackson Rotary Club for a nonprofit organization, Margaret Frith as "Woman of the Year,’ and Daniel Black as "Man of the Year."

Josette Butehorn, branch manager of Weichert, Realtors’ Howell office, announced that two sales associates were recognized for their industry successes in the month of June. Lillian Lehman led the office in listings. A member of Weichert’s Sales and Marketed Clubs, Lehman qualified for the New Jersey Association of Realtors 2003 Circle of Excellence Sales Club at the silver level. In addition, Lehman earned membership in Weichert’s President’s club recognizing her in the top one percent of the company’s 12,800 sales associates. Lisa Vaccaro led the office in sales and was named the top producer. A member of Weichert’s Sales and Marketed Clubs, Vaccaro qualified for the New Jersey Association of Realtors 2003 Circle of Excellence Sales Club at the silver level. In addition, Vaccaro earned membership in Weichert’s Ambassador’s Club recognizing her in the top two percent of the company’s 12,800 sales associates.

Professional Orthopaedic Associates, which has offices in Marlboro, Tinton Falls and Toms River, announced that Dr. Glenn Gabisan has joined the practice. Gabisan specializes in sports medicine, trauma, orthopaedic reconstruction and arthroscopic surgery of the foot, ankle and lower extremities. Gabisan attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where he received the Dean’s Letter of Commendation. After an internship in general surgery, he completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He then completed a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

Assist-2-Sell Real Estate franchise in Jackson was recently recognized as one of the Top 10 Percent Assist-2-Sell offices in the nation for 2003. Owners Kimberly Kelly and Raymond Ciamarra were presented with the award at the company’s annual convention held in Reno, Nev.

FirstEnergy Corp. has introduced an enhanced military leave policy, retroactive to Sept. 11, 2001, for employees on active duty in the armed services to reflect the extended periods of time that many are being asked to serve. The new program increases the period that employees receive differential pay and health care benefits from 180 days up to 18 months. In addition, employees in the National Guard or Reserve will receive differential pay for up to 15 days annually for training or domestic service. Under the previous program, employees received differential pay for up to 10 days annually. FirstEnergy has more than 70 employees who have reported for military duty since 9/11.
