Holiday events on tap at Olde Towne

The Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission is sponsoring two holiday events at East Jersey Olde Towne Village, 1050 River Road, Piscataway.

A Victorian ornament display will run through Feb. 1. The exhibit of antique holiday ornaments dating from the 1840s-1940s includes Victorian glass and paper tree ornaments, German Kugels, early light sets from 1910-1930 and various lithographs and prints. The exhibit is open to the public during regular village hours.

A holiday program is set for 1-4 p.m. Dec. 14 at the village. The event will include holiday tales, the ornament exhibit, a children’s craft and a caroling concert. Advance registration is required.

The events will begin at 1 p.m. with “Seasonal Holiday Tales” with Dave Emerson. Visitors may view the Victorian ornament display or take part in the children’s craft project set for 2-3 p.m. The program is appropriate for children ages 5-9, accompanied by an adult.

Crafts will be followed by a Dickens- Era Caroling Concert with History on the Hoof in a performance of Victorian holiday songs planned for 3-4 p.m.

The village is an accessible site. An assistive listening System will be in use during the programs. Wheelchairs are available upon request for visitors who may need assistance from the parking lot to the programs.
