Bill Winters and Chris James, two college quarterbacks from Brick, garnered individual conference honors.

Bill Winters, of Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Park, was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Conference first team. The former Brick Township High School quarterback finished his career as the most prolific quarterback in FDU history. On the season, he went 136 of 208 for 1,606 yards to go along with 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions, while also leading the team in rushing with 101 carries for 445 yards and five more touchdowns. In the conference, he ranked sixth in rushing yards per game (55.6), second in passing yards per game (200.8), and second in total offense per game (256.4) while ranking 50th nationally in total offense.

Winters also owns most of the FDU career passing records, including passing yards, passing attempts, passing completions, completion percentage and passing touchdowns. He finished his career fifth in rushing touchdowns among quarterbacks.

The Jersey Knights finished 2-8.

The College of New Jersey quarterback Chris James, former star at Brick Memorial High School, was named New Jersey Athletic Conference honorable mention. James, a senior, competed 131 of 217 passes for 60 percent for 1,757 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was intercepted only eight times. Three times this season James passed for more than 300 yards in a game, including a season high 358 yards against Winters’ Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Park team. James also rushed for 138 yards. The College of New Jersey ended its season at 4-6 with a 39-0 loss to Rowan University (7-3) on Nov. 14.

In basketball, former Brick Memorial High School star Jay Frank, a first team all-NJAC selection last season, hit back-toback 20-point games as The College of New Jersey won its opening games over Lehman, 83-76, in double overtime and Berkeley, 96- 50. Frank also grabbed seven rebounds against Lehman and forced the first overtime when he sank a jumper with 1:18 left in regulation.

The Twin County SA Titans, a competitive U14 Boys travel team won the New Jersey Youth Soccer State Cup Nov. 1 at Mercer County Park, taking the place at the top of their age group in the state of New Jersey.

They outscored their opponents in cup play 20-5, beating Hillsborough Roma 2-1, Vineland Devils 6-0 and Randolph Rovers 4-1. In the semifinals the Titans bested the Ocean Tornadoes 5-2, advancing on to the finals where they defeated Wayne United 3-1.
