CHAPTER A
At our Sept. 3 meeting, Rana Berhard of Weichert Realtors will address the residence changes that seniors sometimes need to make due to circumstances such as health, family and downsizing.
At the Oct. 1 meeting the Jersey Harmony Chorus, a chapter of the Sweet Adelines singing organization, will perform.
Operation Shoebox will return at our Nov. 5 meeting.
Trips & Programs
Fri., Sept. 11 — “Spark of Life: Mind, Body & Spirit” at Foothill Acres. Lunch at noon, program with Walter Choroszewski at 12:30.
 Wed., Sept. 16 – Country & western appreciation lunch in the Municipal Building multi-purpose room. Wear something western! Lunch at 11:30 a.m. Bingo from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost of $10 is refunded at the event.
 Sun. to Wed., Oct. 4-7 — Four days to Ocean City, Maryland, with stops at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Annapolis Naval Academy, historic Tangier Island and a visit to the Assateague ponies. Stay three nights at the Dunes Manor Resort Hotel overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Cost is $727 per person for double occupancy or $883 for single. Price includes tips for driver and guide. Departs from Municipal Building parking lot.
 Tues., Oct. 20 — Luncheon theater at the Cock & Bull Restaurant in Lahaska, Pa. Delicious food followed by “Falsettos,” a comedy. Enjoy the outdoor scarecrow exhibit. Cost is $57 members, $67 non-members. Depart from Lowe’s at 10:30 a.m.
 Fri., Nov. 20 — Christmas Spectacular at Radio City, the grandest celebration of the holiday season. Family-style lunch at Carmine’s Restaurant. Cost is $125 members; $135 non-members. Departs from Lowe’s at 9 a.m.
News & Notes
Our 2015 officers were installed at the January meeting. Newly elected officers are Dorrie Guarneiro as president; Gene Reinhardt as vice president; Linda Peretti as recording secretary; Peggy Van Lieu as corresponding secretary; Richard Candino as treasurer; Inge Heitz as financial secretary and Nick Troisi as trustee.All Hillsborough seniors age 60 and older are invited to join Chapter A. Younger spouses of seniors are also eligible for membership. Dues are $5 a year and new members may join at any meeting. Questions on membership can be directed to Loretta Tansey at 908-359-1171.
On meeting days, doors open at 11:30 a.m., allowing time to review upcoming events and make reservations. Refreshments are available at noon and after the meeting, too.
Throughout the year, Lions Recycle for Sight volunteers clean, sort by prescription strength, and package eyeglasses. They distribute to people where they will have the greatest impact. A drop box for prescription and reading eyeglasses, sunglasses and children’s glasses as well as plastic and metal frames is available in the main lobby of our municipal building.

Help our Food Bank by bringing an item to each meeting.
The rescue squad will be present at every regular meeting to check blood pressure. We encourage our members to go into the Senior Activity Room before the meeting and take advantage of this service.The suggestion box is available at each meeting.

CHAPTER B
The next monthly meeting is Sept. 10. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m., at which time members can buy tickets for trips and other events.
Change of date: Due to a scheduling conflict, the fall luncheon will be held Thursday, Oct. 15. There will be no regular meeting in October. You may buy tickets at the August and September meetings.
There is no bingo in August or October. The next bingo game will be held Sept. 24.

Our new officers were installed in December: Tony Fusco as president; Peggy Commerton, vice president; Wanda Goldsworthy, corresponding secretary; Ellen Stanislaski, recording secretary; Carol Stein, financial secretary; Ralph Fariello, treasurer, and Nancy Fusco, a new trustee.Tickets for all special events will only be sold at monthly meetings before the event. They include the following: Spring Luncheon, June celebration, June anniversary every 5 years, Fall Luncheon, Holiday Party. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Members wearing their name badges are eligible for a drawing for a special gift at the end of the meeting. Be sure to wear your badge!
Activities and Trips
 The trip to Boston from Sept. 13-15 has been canceled.
 A bus trip to the Tropicana in Atlantic City on Monday, Sept. 14, is sold out. A waiting list is available.
 A trip to Octoberfest at Platzl Brauhaus in Pomona, N.Y., is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22. Full day of music, eating and dancing. $79. Buy tickets at the September meeting.
 QVC American Treasure tour by tram Wed., Nov. 18, includes a massive collection of Americana from antiques to pop culture. Complete hot buffet in theater room. Guided tour of QVC with time to shop at QVC studio. Buy $70 tickets in Oct. 15 fall luncheon.
If you want to bring a friend on any overnight trip, they do not have to be a club member. If any trips are sold out, you may call to add your name to a waiting list. On all trips, you should bring photo ID and health insurance card(s).
Community Events û
A free program of movement in water is held every Tuesday at noon in a heated pool at the HRC Fitness Center. For recreational therapy, you need a doctor’s approval. Call Angela at 908-399-3097 for information or go to www.Swim-inc.org. Start now. Social hour afterwards at 1:15.You don’t have to be a HRC member.
Keep in mind the township’s Mr. Fix-It program, run by the Social Services Department. Minor home repairs can be arranged on Wednesdays between 8 and 11 a.m. for Hillsborough seniors 60 and older. Call 908-369-3880 for details.
Free exercise classes for all ability levels are available to all Hillsborough seniors in the municipal building Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for 45 minutes — right where we hold our meetings.

SENIOR ROOM
In the Senior Activity Room, shuffleboard, pool table, darts and ping pong are available for use in the first and largest area. Cards and games are played in the middle area. Computers are in the third area for your use and enjoyment.
Monday: Knitting, crocheting and needlepoint from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Tuesday: Bridge from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Scrabble at 10 a.m. Tripoli at 1 p.m., cards from 1 to 3:30 p.m. and pinochle from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday: Mah jongg from noon to 4 p.m. Canasta from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Thursday: Bridge from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Friday: Mah jongg from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
HILLSBOROUGH 
SENIOR CENTER 
Adults age 60 and older are invited to visit the county-operated Hillsborough Senior Center at 339 South Branch Road. The center is open from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Its phone is 908-369-8700.
Exercise with Rose every Tuesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. The program includes games, stretches, walks, chair fitness and strength training movement. Learn to play mah jongg Wednesdays at 10 a.m.
Transportation is available.
An 8-week session of Zumba Gold is held on Mondays at 1 p.m. Zumba is an aerobic fitness program featuring movements inspired by styles of Latin American dance. Zumba can help strengthen the cardiovascular system and bones and improve range of motion and posture. The fee is $40 for 8 classes; advanced registration is required. Forms are available at the Hillsborough Senior Center.Blood pressure screenings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. Caram (an East Indian game similar to billiards) and other games can be played every Thursday. Cards are available every day. You can flex, stretch and tone with Rose on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m. The bocce court and horseshoe pit are available daily.

Thurs., Aug. 27 — Take a trip at 10:30 a.m. to the Montgomery Senior Center for a program created by a Girl Scout Katie Vanderkam to earn her Gold Award. Living Treasure celebrates the gifts and talents of older adults to the community.
