PRINCETON: Annual Palmer Square tree lighting spectacular kicks off holiday season (multiple photos)

With the flick of a switch and a special appearance by Santa Claus, Palmer Square opened the holiday season with its annual tree lighting event on Friday evening in Princeton. The festivities included seasonal sounds from the Princeton High School Choir, as well as tunes performed by Bob Denson’s Blues, a New Jersey-based group featuring Mr. Denson on guitar. On Friday, he shared the microphone with Santa Claus. The annual tree lighting event began nearly 30 years ago with a partnership between Palmer Square Corp and the Princeton Rotary, led by Millard Riggs. The original event featured characters from McCarter Theatre’s production of “A Christmas Carol.”
